Keith “Kayo” Overton
DJ • Promoter • NYC Underground Staple
A beloved figure in New York’s underground dance music scene, DJ Kayo has been moving dancefloors since the early ’90s. His sets blend deep house, soulful rhythms, and raw, percussive grooves — built for dancers, heads, and true believers.
Cutting his teeth as an intern for Emotive Records, then King Street Sounds and eventually working the floor slinging vinyl at 259 Bowery - Satellite Records. Kayo is known not only for his impeccable ear for music - but for the energy he brought to every space — whether behind the counter or behind the decks. His influence grew as a promoter and co-creator of legendary underground events like BKNY, and SOLE THERAPY, cultivating a movement rooted in love, sweat, and community.
Kayo was part owner of 667 BarGalleryLounge, Brooklyn venue that became a haven for artists and dancers alike — a place where sound, spirit, and soul converged deep into the night.
A selector’s selector and a community anchor, Kayo doesn’t just play records — he curates journeys, uplifts culture, and reminds people why we dance in the first place.
